First, let’s start with a Japanese ramen recipe. Japanese Ramen noodle soup requires the following ingredients:

  • Pork broth
  • Japanese noodles (i.e. somen, udon, or ramen)
  • Onion (finely chopped)
  • Cabbage (finely shredded)
  • Green onion (finely chopped)

Step 1

Cook pork in a pot on high heat for 10 minutes, then add water and simmer on low heat for 30 minutes with cover on. Then take out the pork and shred it finely. Discard the water and put the pot back on low heat again. Add Dashi, soy sauce, salt & pepper to taste; keep covered for 5 more minutes to release all the flavors. Set aside.

Step 2

Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook Japanese noodles for 3-5 minutes. Then drain the water, rinse with cold water for 1 minute, and separate into serving bowls.

Varieties of Japanese Ramen Noodle Soup
