A Vegan Dinner Roll Recipe – Easy to Follow Golden Brown and Perfect Every Time

vegan dinner roll recipe

The most important part of this vegan dinner roll recipe is the sauce you’ll be using. In this case, I used coconut milk. However, you may want to substitute it with your favourite vegan cream. To make this simple but delicious sauce, all you need is a cup of raw cashews, enough water to cover them, some vegan mayo, a little olive oil, and a few garlic cloves. Let stand for a while and you’ll have a tangy, creamy sauce to drool over.

A Convenient Snack

Another thing I love about this easy vegan dinner roll recipe is that it makes a convenient snack. You can take a couple of these babies with you for a healthier lunch or dinner the next day. For an even quicker, but equally tasty snack, heat up some frozen vegetables or fruits in your blender and add in about a cup of raw vegan cream. Your kids will devour these healthy, delicious bites.

Apple Sauce

This is one of my favourite things about vegan recipes. While most require a specific kind of flour, not this one. If you don’t have brown rice flour, you can substitute your favourite all-purpose flour. It’s great in any vegan meal and even works well in most cookbooks. The key to cooking this recipe in a healthy way is to make sure you use applesauce as your cooking agent.

Ground Wheat Flour

To make this vegan dinner roll recipe, all you have to do is mix together your ground wheat flour, applesauce, and liquid smoke until it forms a ball. Then, form the dough into a pizza-esque shape by rolling it between two pieces of waxed paper. Brush or dip the flat end of a fork in apple cider vinegar and roll it out to create a rough surface. Let the rolled out dough rest for a couple of minutes, and then cut into bite-size wedges.

Oatmeal Raisin Roll

There are other great vegan dinner roll recipes out there on the web. One that comes to mind is the oatmeal raisin roll. It may not be the healthiest rollout, but it does have a quick rise and is fairly simple to make. This quick rise makes it a great meal that’s both nutritious and delicious.

Make A Nice Loaf

You can also bake a nice loaf of whole wheat pastry crust for dinner rolls. This easy recipe comes from the vegan cookbook The Nasty Bits newsletter. All you have to do is add three cups of brown rice to a medium saucepan and then pour in one cup of vegetable oil. Bring to a gentle boil, and then turn off the heat. Allow the mixture to cool, and then place in your food processor or blender. Blend until smooth, and then spoon into your baking pan.

Use Milk And Olive Oil

A final note about cooking with vegetable fat or oil: If you add too much milk or water, it will curdle your vegan meal roll recipe. Instead, use equal parts milk and olive oil, and just beat to combine. Then, spoon the mixture into your baking pan, and bake until golden brown.

Use Yeast

If you are making your own flour to use in your rolls, use two cups of all-purpose flour and let your yeast rise in a warm water bath for ten minutes. Once the yeast is fully developed, you can put the cups of flour in your mixer and beat it until the ingredients become smooth and elastic. Then, just spoon the dough into a cupcake or cake pan, and cook as directed.

That’s It

Now that you’ve got your basic recipe for homemade dinner rolls, it’s time to start cooking. First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and then line a baking sheet with non-stick parchment paper. Place your rolls on the parchment paper, and turn to make sure they are straight and not twisted. Once you’ve lined the pan, sprinkle some sugar on the underside, and then bake for approximately 10 minutes. Once done, remove them from the oven and let them cool completely. Once cool, you can then carefully unroll them, and you will immediately see their golden brown appearance!
