Best meal prep ideas

Meal prepping is the act of preparing food in advance to cut down on cooking time during a hectic week. It can be as simple as making several servings of rice and veggies once a week or chopping up chicken breasts, seasoning them with your favorite spices, and vacuum sealing them in individual bags before placing them in the freezer.

The method doesn’t matter, but the resulting goal is always the same: Prepare a bunch of food in advance so it’s ready to go when you are.

1 – Protein-Packed Meal Prep:

If you’re going to commit to meal prep then you’re going to want protein-packed ideas that keep in the fridge or freezer for days at a time. This means no sandwiches (sorry) but plenty of healthy proteins like hard-boiled eggs, salmon filets, and seasoned chicken breasts.

2- Carbohydrates meal prep:

The carbohydrate-based meal is perfect for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Cook some quinoa with your favorite veggies, cooked eggs, and turkey bacon to make a scrumptious version of eggs, grains, and meat which you can cook in bulk at once then portion into containers that will last throughout the week.

3- Vegetarian Meal Prep Ideas:

If you aren’t currently incorporating vegetarian recipes into your weekly meal plan, this is the perfect time to start. Replacing meats with plant-based proteins like black beans and lentils can be just as healthy but far easier on the wallet.

4- Healthy snacks meal preps:

Snacks are an important part of everyone’s diet, no matter how clean they eat. If you’re looking for a meal prep idea that doesn’t include any cooking or baking, try making granola bars and dried fruit.

5- Protein smoothie meal preps:

This is one of my favorite and easiest meal prep ideas. All you have to do is blend some protein powder and milk together with your favorite fruits and veggies (spinach, kale, and frozen berries are my favorites) for an easy afternoon pick-me-up.

6- Low carb, high protein diet recipes:

The last of the six meal prep ideas is more of a diet than a specific recipe or type of food. If you’re looking to reduce carbs in your life but don’t want to sacrifice flavor or convenience, check out some of these low-carb meal prep ideas before you buy groceries next week.

7- Cheap meal prep ideas:

If you’re going to commit to a weekly meal prep schedule, it’s important that it doesn’t break the bank. Don’t worry though – there are plenty of healthy and affordable recipes out there. Some of our favorite cheap meal prep ideas include lentil soup, whole-wheat pasta, grilled chicken, turkey burgers, and quinoa salads.
