Are you craving a simple and yet mouthwatering vegan Sunday dinner recipe? It is not that difficult to make. You just need to know where to start. If you are on a tight budget, and you would like to have a delicious and filling meal for Sunday dinner, then you do not need to look any further than your own pantry and refrigerator! That is the place I will recommend you start. There are many delicious and yet budget-friendly recipes out there for you to try.
Did you know there are over 500 recipes available for vegans? How did I come up with that number? Well, I do not claim to have the answers. But I do know that a good place to start is by looking in the freezer for old frozen treats such as pie mix or ice cream.
I will be sharing with you some very simple vegan recipe that will not break the bank. This is a chicken fried steak. Yes, you heard me right. A whole grilled steak! And you can make this healthy and yet flavour burst with all the nutrients you get from a healthy non-meat dish. You can make it the night before and freeze it in a single serving.
First, you will want to create a simple sauce. I like to use an herb based sauce such as basil and tomato sauce. Then, decide on what kind of vegetables you want to add to this delicious sauce.
Here is how your sauce will work. First, cut up any red onions you have and place them in a food processor. Pulse until you have a smooth paste. Add your favorite spices, tomatoes, cilantro, and red pepper flakes. Blend it all together until it becomes a thick sauce. You will want to set aside the mixture to let it cool down a bit.
Next, you will want to prepare your baked vegetable. Now, I love to use squash, carrot, and potato because they are low in fat and yet so incredibly tasty. If you don’t have any vegetable choices at the moment, I suggest looking for mild versions of these vegetables at your local grocery store. This way you can adjust the sauce to be even more creamy without making it too heavy.
Now, it’s time to assemble the meal! Make sure to assemble everything before you begin cooking. Also, remember that you should serve the meal to be served cold. Whether you make it the night before or the day of, you will need to store it in the fridge until you are ready to serve it.
You are going to find that this is a delicious and yet simple meal that everyone will devour. It’s also extremely budget friendly. You don’t have to go and buy a new dinner to impress your friends. By simply changing the ingredients around, you can make a completely new and delicious version of this classic. It will be delicious and yet surprisingly easy to prepare!
For the salad, try using a spicy mayonnaise based dressing as well as some radishes or red onions. For an extra kick, add chopped tomatoes and jalapenos to the mix. To save even more money, you can use fresh herbs such as cilantro and basil. If you’re feeling a bit creative, you could add your own unique spice blend to the mix as well.
As far as desserts go, this isn’t one of the healthier options on the market. However, when you cook it healthily, it is. Try baking a small batch of fresh fruit. Carrot and apple pie are two great examples of vegan desserts that taste amazing. As long as you aren’t adding a lot of unhealthy fats to the mix (in order to remain within the healthy diet guidelines we’re discussing), you should be able to include these in your vegan Sunday dinner recipe.
The easiest way to make them however is to use a dessert base made from vegetable stock and tapioca starch. It’s actually surprising just how much flavor a simple base such as this can add to a meal. Once you have your base made, you simply add your favorite fruits and vegetables. If you are feeling adventurous, why not add some spices to give it a more depth and uniqueness? And don’t be afraid to put your own ingredients into the mix as well!
If you’ve never cooked with tapioca starch before, I recommend giving it a try. It has a wonderful consistency and is very forgiving when it comes to different flavors. This will definitely add a new dimension to your dinner recipes. So what are you waiting for? Start searching for your next dinner idea and get cooking!
